Change The Default Location For Installing Apps in windows 7 & 8

JUST SIMPLE 4 STEPS TO DO THAT

As the size of hard drives increase, more people are using partitions to separate and store groups of files.

WINDOW 7 & 8 uses the C:\Program Files directory as the default base directory into which new programs are installed or it is set by users at the time of installing windows. However, you can change the default installation drive and/ or directory by using a Registry hack.

1. Run the Registry Editor(press start button + R and type "REGEDIT", it will automatically open registry editor)

2. then go to   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

3. Look for the value named ProgramFilesDir. by default, this value will be C:\Program Files

4.  Edit the value to any valid drive or folder and windows will use that new location as the
default installation directory for new programs.
